Welcome to the Cupid’s Choice Blog Hop! If you didn’t get here through the blog hop site, click here for the list. And, make sure you go all the way through the hop for your chance to win a Nook!

In honor of romance, I’ve decided to share how Phyxe met Tru. It’s not the full chapter, only a portion of it. Hope you fall in love with them as much as I have! (PS – Pardon the formatting, the template and I are having words….and they’re not nice ones ;) )

“Krite. Now I’m going to have to hunt him down.” She panted. The poison tried to work its way through her system, but her fire flowed along behind repairing as much as it could within her current limits.

“Lady, you’re not fit to be hunting anything on this planet.” The deep baritone flowed over her. The sparks within her body lit higher. Fire stirred, banking hard against the bonds. “Not that either of you seem to be from this planet. Mind telling me how the hell you got on my world?”

She pried open her eyes. Lethargy threatened to overtake her as the fires within tried to scorch the poison. In her full power, the demon would have never broken through her personal barrier. The damn bracers … stars, she needed them off her.

Darkness shifted and parted, her vision switched, and it was if the faint light of sunset swept over the desert sands. She eyed the warrior before her when he turned back to face her. Tall, stars, he was tall. And muscled. His face set in stone. Strong jaw covered in dark stubble. Gods, he was gorgeous. Someone had crafted his body and energy pattern as if by hand paying exquisite attention to each detail. But who? Despite the black energy snaking through her body, she ached to move closer, the fire in him calling to her.

“He pulled me,” she said, forcing her tone and breathing to even out. “What planet?”

He stared at her. “He pulled you? With what? Some sort of ship? Why would he pull you?”

She pulled her hand away from her stomach and glanced down at it. Her nose wrinkled at the foul smell. “I have no idea how he did it, or why he did it other than I am the ruler of the Elemental Flame. What planet am I on?”

The tall warrior shook his head, a lock of dark hair fell in his face even as he dropped down next to her, laying his sword at his side. “According to our legends, our history, the Elemental Fire is male. He is a warrior, a weapon of destruction, a God. He can fell cities with a thought, decimate planets.”

“You’ve got your legends.” She clamped her hand down on her stomach again and went to sit up. His hand stayed her.

“Let me see.” He said as he pushed her back down.

Startled, she let him. She’d start to heal at any moment now. Krite, she’d better. She’d annihilated cities, planets even, when called to do so. “I am the reality, warrior.”

Warrior, she was the damn warrior. She’d always been so. She’d fought the battles, won the wars, destroyed the planets and resurrected those that were worthy. She’d loved. She’d lost. She’d dealt. She just was.

“You don’t look like a ruler of anything at the moment.” He moved her hand.

Her head reared back as his energy collided with hers. He’d touched her. Stars, every molecule in her body took notice. Her heart rate leapt. She tilted her head to look at him. A hazy sense of awareness swept through her. Blackness hovered at the edges of her vision.

No, no, no … she wanted to stay with him, figure out how he’d connected with the fire in her.

“His claws got too close. I’m going to have to shut down and rest.” She took a deep breath forcing herself to stay focused. Belatedly, she realized she was staring rather pointedly at his face as if memorizing the hard lines, the faint beard, the disheveled, uneven black hair and the even darker than dark eyes. Sexy, powerful. She liked, very much so. Too bad she couldn’t focus enough to do anything more than stare at him for the moment. Halja, she had to be gone. Her sisters would have a field day with this one.

“You’re badly wounded.” His large hand wrapped around the arm not clasped down on her stomach. She bit her lip to keep from crying out, in surprise or pleasure, she wasn’t sure which. “I thought you merely ducked out of the way for me to get a better strike.”

She mentally shook herself and tried to shake his hand off. Men didn’t touch her unless she allowed them to. She needed him to let go. He was clouding her vision. “As if. Let go.”

“Let me see the extent of your wound.” He ignored her and gently began to pry her fingers away from her abdomen.

She halted, looking down to where his hand was. Fire licked her skin where he touched, but black puss seeped at the edges of the gashes. Shock rippled through her at the contact of his hand on her bare skin. Pure heat streaked through her. Sparks raced over her. Every cell in her body stilled. Her gaze trailed down the length of his arm, back to his face. It’d been so long since she’d been touched, few dared. Her head dipped towards him, warmth spread desire ricocheting through her body.

She stayed his hand from touching any closer. “Don’t be foolish. The poison will work its way out on its own. Don’t get any on you. I can barely heal myself at the moment. I don’t need you poisoned, too.”

Her stomach tightened, and he moved his hand back as if burned. His eyelids dropped, shielding any thoughts from her view.

“Poison?” He frowned down at her. “I need to get you to a healer.”

“Excuse me? I told you. I’ll heal. All demons have poison in their claws. And apparently, Rais’ claws even more so to pull and hurt me.” She turned her eyes up to him as if she hadn’t heard him correctly. She took a deep breath. Had he not heard her? She could heal herself. She just needed a moment or two.

Her vision swam. Ok, so maybe three or four moments.

Tempted, oh, so tempted to tussle with him since she couldn’t call the flame regardless of the liquid darkness rolling through her. Gods, he was bigger than her and made her feel … feminine. She bit her lower lip, for the first time in millennia, undecided. She was at a distinct disadvantage. Yes, she wanted to follow the demon’s trail, but she needed to rest.

Not like she’d moved from the sands where she’d fallen yet either. Some goddess she was. Good thing her sisters couldn’t see her now.
The damn bracers were leaden weights around her wrists, a heavy reminder for her to wait and see. Her power pooled.

A look of resignation crossed his face as he forced himself to remove his hands. “You’re going to the healer before you fall on your face. And then, you can explain this word, demon, to me.”

“Oh, for the love of …” She started and then the darkness swept over her.

Strong arms gathered her close. A smiled drifted through her body before she succumbed. Get pulled by a demon, land in the arms of a sexy male. She’d say she’d come out ahead in the deal.

But the Ubilin would pay for the poison. She relaxed into the warrior’s body, letting him and the healing process take over.

Maybe, just maybe, he’d survive it all.
