urban fantasy & paranormal romance author

A new story snuck up on me & now I can’t get it…

I can’t get it out of my head. And damn it, it’s a contemporary romance. NO paranormal bents. Well, unless I start weaving them in and making it a modern paranormal contemporary….is there such a genre? Hmmm, there’s something to ponder and make work.

And no, I’m not even giving you a hint….:P

No matter. I’m having fun with it, therefore I will write it.

It might be shorter than most of my other works, but I’ve decided that’s ok. I’ll most likely be self publishing it, or a very limited edition (maybe an edition of 1 if I don’t like it at all LOL). Or maybe even digital publishing elsewhere under a pseudonym…that way, anyone I’ve sort of included in it is protected (grins, just in case, you know…people think I’m writing about THEM, always the challenge in contemporary for me.) It is a refreshing change of pace and requiring I dig deeper into emotions (god do we have to talk about emotions??) rather than scene setting. I spend so much time in the paranormal realm building worlds and science that sometimes I feel as if the emotions get away from me.

You know what I love about deviations?

I learn so much and make everything that much richer as I continue to move forward. I’m about 4k words in and getting ready to hit the next scene. Thank god for Scrivener….I don’t think I would have learned to outline if it weren’t for that darn software.

My other guilty revelation?

I’ve been spending a LOT of time reading lately. Damn Amazon Kindle and the ability to just download a new book no matter the time of day. (However, #publisherfail, yes, it’s a Twitter thing, for those pricing DIGITAL books at $7.99 and higher, seriously????) And no, I won’t name names because, honestly, you can find them easily. And damnit, they’re writers I love to read.

On a non writing note?

Had an amazing time this morning at my first ever “Mom’s Breakfast” – yes, we were just all that damn happy the kids went back to school. Thank you ladies, you know who you are! Kids need structure and mine just flowed around my schedule of trying to work this summer. Although, we did have some great times swimming and checking out new things…until he was introduced to Lego Universe. I think it went downhill from there…even IF his spelling and typing skills improved….I’m trying to figure out the balance there.

And yes, still training hard, but you can keep up with that over here.
