A hint of a story for you…because I can, and I love you…

From the Goddess of Fire: Phyxe’d

Across the planet, hidden deep in the snows of the northern hemisphere Rais smiled as he watched the satellite feed on the screen in front of him. He’d kicked back in the communications room with his feet up on the desk when he’d returned to the keep Marius’ family had left so long ago. Abandoned, shielded by Lord Riske by the very technology hiding the planet, it proved to be the perfect home during his stay or his prison as he’d started to think about it. Dark and dank suited the demon in him just fine. The inability to leave irked him. He quashed the whisper from non-demon half, the half writhing in pain from the bonds of the markings on his skin. He shoved it aside. No need for any of that now. He had a mission. He couldn’t be side tracked from his survival. Every beat of his heart depended on this. He wasn’t about to die because of the whim of some bored God.

Since he couldn’t remain near Tru, he’d wanted to watch the first skirmish with the Goddess. The tattoos along his body burned for a moment when the cameras finally revealed them and then settled to a steady hum. A perverse sense of pleasure washed over him as the pain hit her, guilt followed closely on its footsteps. Whispers swirled around him, some more insistent than others. He ignored them all. He had to. Some of the whispers threatened to over take him, seep into his well-being.

He couldn’t afford that now.

He’d known she’d been bent on his destruction when she appeared. The fire of her anger reached out to feed his soul. Half of him had wanted her to take a shot. He hadn’t realized how well the bracers would keep her in check. Better that they had, he wasn’t done here yet.

He grinned when his wraith hit her. She’d been surprised, but not weakened. She was going to prove a worthy adversary, and hopefully, one that would keep Tru sidetracked enough to finish his job here on the planet. One that would keep them all alive.

This might be getting fun.
