Writers Promotional Ideas
- Do FIVE things everyday to market yourself – “A diamond is a piece of coal that sticks to the job.” - A great resource to help you with this a b0ok called "Get Clients NOW!"
- Make it convenient to contact you - website, email, IM...phone if you want
- Offer info on your website that is valuable enough to make people read and forward - update it frequently so the Search Engines keep you linked!
- ALWAYS have something to sell.
- Always have something to give away
- Write your own review
- Design your own cover
- Write out your goals – x in print, etc. Cut out a best seller list – print your info on it, put a date
- Non-fiction succeeds because of simplicity
- Do one thing differently everyday-drive a different way...start your day differently...go somewhere new
- Know your elevator speech - Join Toastmasters or find a BNI group to learn the best of communication and relationship building!
- Anyone (author/artist/musicican) who can do something visual, active and fresh has an edge
- Bio – 5x7 black and white, glossy print
- Have a fun easy to mail gimmick/symbol of your book
- Contact media 9 times in 18 months
- Handwritten is better!
- Send THANK YOU notes -this is true NO MATTER WHAT YOUR BUSINESS
- Use real stamps
- Offer freebies
- Make a lapel pin of your cover…WEAR IT - or find something fun that people just have to ask you about! One of my mentors has bra pins...I dare you....ask me.....
- Write reviews for others-REFER others....you'd be surprised what comes back to you!
- Use “AUTOGRAPHED” stickers for authors/musicians
- Impress with professionalism - be impeccable, be on time...oh hell, be EARLY
- Create a List of what you read/listen to
- SMILE
