What's In a Name????

You know...a brief conversation tonight with my brother...prompted this thought...

All of my characters are some aspect of my personality...their names, at least the female ones, come from a part of me.

What say you about your character names????

My character's name is Laura. She is a capable yet mixed-up girl, having seen much tradgedy in her life as well as much accomplishment. She was the first child to be trained as an experiment as a member of a highly secretive and highly trained SWAT team when she was just 12. The idea being that children are absolute about right and wrong and can climb and maneuver better than a full-grown adult.

Having been shot when she was 15 and addicted to herion by the time she was 21 she endured the loss of her father and her brother - both SWAT team members - to their passion and calling....crime fighting.

When the experiment ended, it left a young women who had to shift her thinking from always looking over her shoulder to trying to fit into a world where she was the authority and the judge of right and wrong. Occasionally tailed by "company" psychologists" to make sure she maintains her silence.... one in particular named Susan befriends her becomes her best friend, and protector as she struggles to navigate a world she doesn't feel she fits into.

I have to agree. Feryl came from a pretty wild time in my life. Leon comes from both The Professional and the old Bubble Gum Crisis series', which steered some of my interest. Even with Armstrong, I used JJ, initials from one of my blood relatives.

Though, I tend to use my friends' names as enemies or blends of Scotch. ha!

See, I agree. I have Sybir, Chrystal, Justice...and then the new ones..Sabre, Phyxe, Gian...

It's interesting to see what aspects of your personality come to play with each story. I think you really do have to tap into the character to get the story out there and for others to be just as engaged in it as your are!
