Voice....what voice?

One must have a voice in their writing, great...mine's gone. No, not my writing voice, hell, I have that in spades and sometimes the damn characters take over(just ask about my dreams in the last three nights)...hehee. No, I mean my actual voice, gone.

Let's recap: 3am, Cat gets home and puts all the equipment from his show away, bless him...as it was all in my truck, and I was going to need said truck in the am (TKD gear fits better in my SUV and easier for me to manipulate with little man). I think, cool, he'll be in bed soon and roll over to go back to sleep and block the bright light out. Then 5:30am, roll over, no Cat...wander to office, he's awake still and playing. Poor guy was amped up after his show. I tell him what time it is and go back bed. Pup cries out at 6:15am...I groan, get up, check, he's good, but cold, cover him back up...go back to bed till 7-something when he comes in to get me and thus the day begins. He is my alarm clock.

The day: 9:15am get pup and self ready for TKD testing, 9:30am out the door to dojo, I am a stickler for not being late, blame my mother ;) ...10am, frantically in class getting gear on little man and then my gear on because the doors didn't open until five minutes before - interesting battle because the gear is "cold mommy" - we blow on it to heat it up. 10am, we start testing. Lots of tiny tigers, and Mrs. Lee and I as the adults. We test with the tigers because it is just that damn hard to schedule our lives separate from the little ones LOL. Thankfully, Sensei allows us this change because he understands the juggling effort when we're participating in TKD as well. So long as we're BOTH there....we can test in the am. Should this change, then the schedules change.

Testing...easier than class most days. FAR easier than tournament. We spar, we break broads, we do weapons, we do form. All standard, except for the board breaks. So, we spar, then we ALL line up to do board breaks.

Pup does his board break before I as he was in line before me with the tigers, good, he went right through it in one shot! He's really learned to look past the board and for that, I'm damn proud, we've been working on it.

Sensei moves to me after...and decides he wants a bigger/harder board (not my blue one, but one of his brown ones....just picture harder)...ok, I was expecting this, he did this last time...but not for my hand break, for my foot break. Nope, hand break, it's a reverse hit...I've gotten to practice for a single week, and he doesn't want me pivoting long like I'd practiced in class, it's a short break...if you really want to see it...I'll show you. The 2 days I practiced, my hand hated me. I don't get it the first time....but he says, pivot your hips, so I do, and go through the board, no issues. Can I tell you what a rush???? LOL.

Little man goes through his combinations with ease and power...yelling at the end of each one, manages 1-5 without issue....he only needed to do 1-4. He was the only one to yell at the end of each. He's 3 and a half!

Forms, mine good, not great. Pup needs to focus for his. My bad, we haven't been working on it like usual. We will be. LOL. I've got the first 22 moves for mine...and hell, most of the rest of it, but we only needed the first part.

Testing, over, pup gets a new belt - yellow belt - the only one, everyone else advanced to Tiger patch, which rocks just as much!!! WHOOOOOOOO for little man! He about knocked me over with his excitement. And then, got all indignant FOR me when I didn't get a belt LOL. I had to explain that the mom's didn't get their with the tigers....we get ours later. Cat pointed out that it teaches them that sometimes, you don't get a belt. Good point, and one I hadn't thought of.

So, testing done..I ask little man, do you want to go to class too. He thinks about it and decides ok, so, we head down the strip mall to get food, have a picnic in the truck, go back in for his class....and then MINE. His class...I need to learn to teach him to run AND jump, not stop and hop LOL. My class, all sparring - air, all I want when Sensei has those classes is air. But, I'm getting better, despite the bruises on my legs and the gash on my forearm ;) I hold my own and I'm getting better. Poor R, had to work some accupressure on him when he got nailed in the shin. But, he got through it and managed to power through his 2-min sparring session. You have to admire the courage there.

Home to shower, change, get Cat and back to the dojo for the holiday party. I'm exhausted, grouchy but Cat steps up and takes care of us both...he's on deck. For TWO hours at the party. Damn glad I don't have to chase the kids around LOL. I chat with Mr. Lee and a few other parents and manage to avoid all the yummy foods from pizza to cookies. All in all, I've met a lot of wonderful parents at the dojo. It's been a great experience.

Leave there around 4pm, head to drop pup off at the grandparents...and then out for Cat's company party - have to be there around 7 or so. I dress up...but not like years past. It's cold out and I hurt. So, we go for velvet pants and a nice halter sweater with rhinestones down the front. So yes, it's sleek, but it's dark and tasteful ;)

For the record...my feet hurt. My legs hurt. My hips hurt. If I sit too long, I get stuck. If I stand too long, I get stuck. Part of the changing of the body and the fact that I'm pushing it to do new things. It will get over itself.

But lord, I've had fun today!!!! Yes, I'm insane. My head is stuffed up...it's raining and cold here...and you know what...I wouldn't trade a damn bit of it. My son is learning great skills this year and sharing them with both of us. My husband is having an awesome year with work AND bands...we are whole. We've made new and interesting friends...and those who are focused and driven and as intriguing and entertaining as we could ever want.

So as we draw closer to the new year....I can't name you all, but thank you to the new friends, the old, the circle of family, sister goddesses, adopted family....to you all, thank you for allowing us to be part of your lives and to learn and grow this year.

I'm honored.
Namaste
