The year of giving...

So, while the economy sucks...get off your tail and donate here and there. The Universe WILL give back. We've got friends doing all sorts of good deeds this year...and yes, I'll hit you up for every one of them. I'm all about doing what's good and right...and if it costs a few dollars, well, it's more than I had growing up.

From a near and dear friend:

This year, I'll be participating in a very special event called the Breast Cancer 3-Day.

I'll walk 60 miles over the course of three days with thousands of other women and men. The net proceeds will support breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment through Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund.

I've agreed to raise at least $2,200 in donations. So I need your help. Would you please consider making a donation of at least $20.00. Keep in mind how far I'm walking - and how hard I'll have to train. You can give online at www.The3Day.org. Just follow the link below to visit my personal fundraising webpage and make a donation. You can also call 800.996.3DAY to donate over the phone.

According to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, approximately 200,000 American women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year, and nearly 40,000 will die from the disease. That's why I'm walking so far. To do something bold about breast cancer. I hope that you'll share this incredible adventure with me - by supporting me in my fundraising efforts.

If anyone would like to join me on the walk, please send me an email.

Thank you in advance for your generosity!

Sincerely,
Susan

P.S. Ask your employer if they will double your donation through a matching gift program!

Status.........

Well, a few more weeks of the proposal project, then I can go back to using that time to write and get the NF book done for the year. Damn it...some writing will get done! Hehee. Honestly, I miss being able to sneak in my writing sprints and working on my fiction...

On the fitness front, I did get in 1.69 miles today in the 30 minutes. If you want to keep track, you'll have to head over to MBS Works site. The health and fitness blog is up there, plus, I talk about all the new and interesting things I'm getting pulled into as a Wellness Coach.

Tonight, was a Zonta International meeting (a services organization dedicated to helping women and children locally, nationally and internationally...FIND one near you and participate...it's ONCE a month people) ...can I tell you how much I love being an entrepreneur and getting involved with local associations to help effect change in our community? I've met some great people who are dedicated to their businesses and their families. They really want to build the local communities as well. I'm afraid, if I'd remained just a 'writer', I never would have ventured out of my shell to learn more about those around me. Because I've gotten past my innate tendency to be an introvert, I've met some wonderful people, gotten to hear some great stories AND been able to participate in some heart warming projects. And for me...this is personal...I know now how much our household struggled in my growing years, and you don't see it as a kid...so, I just want to make things better for others, as we have for our little guy. Even if you don't have money to give....you have TIME.

Give some. You might be surprised what the Universe gives back.

And, because I'm in that mood....thank you to:
  • Cat for supporting EVERYTHING I do or even attempt to do. There are cycles we don't always sync up...but we do get back to us. It's a lesson for both of us :) But we get there, we grow, and we move on. Such is the nature of a partnership!
  • Pup for the 'mommy I love you' at random times...for the kisses, for the face pats...for the arguments and the 'yeah, let's do it' - I savor it all even if I forget to do so in the moment for some of it.
  • Ewoh (even though he hasn't posted since FEB!) and Julainne (for making me smile and helping me be a more patient and understanding MOM) for getting me running.
  • My family and extended family for supporting me (and pup sitting when needed ;) ...you ladies and gents know who you are.) I am who I am because of my support network, without you guys....sheesh...I don't even want to think about it!
  • BiBs - ladies,...for the meetings, the support and the oh.....just being there ;)
  • Karate for Kids - for getting pup focused and ME past the issue of taking a hit...I'm so looking forward to achieving my black belt and being able to teach others how to find the power and focus within themselves.
  • Kim - for helping me get the business (ok, businessES) organized and taking over some of the 'stuff' I needed to be doing but just couldn't get to because there are NOT enough hours in the day (btw- do NOT look at the time stamp for this post LOL)
  • And, last but not least, because she crafted the core of my nature, my mother because she's her... there are days we disagree, we get on each other's nerves, we're over worked, we need more vacation time, we listen, we don't listen, we don't spend nearly enough time together...and, and, and,....but on the important stuff, she taught me, she let me learn, she let me grow AND she just gets it...and lets me deal. And for that, I'm thankful. I owe who and what I am to her training and can only hope to impart that to pup as he grows. I'm sure she'll get a whole blog dedicated to her when we get closer to Mother's Day...it may be a Hallmark holiday, but it's a damn good reminder to thank the person who brought you into the world :)
I'm sure I've left off lots of people...and I'm sorry, it's late and I know I can't thank nearly everyone I need to in life...one of these days...I'll get to everyone :)

You heard it here...

"The first 2 miles is the hardest 2 miles you will ever run. Once you have reached this level of fitness, it's relatively easy to do more. You simply have to budget the time, and be patient and disciplined in your training."

Yes, I allowed a super cool friend to sign me up to do the Army 1o Miler in October....

We're going out to buy me running shoes tomorrow.
*sighs*

I think it's the TIME I have to deal with.....

For the Fit Moms

Because I am a fit mom...and because I acknowledge that pregnancy is a HUGE challenge to the body, mind and spirit....

This is for the moms....you are...far more powerful and stronger than the media lets on ;)

No offense to the men in our lives...but honestly...you add weight when I do...and deal all day long...THEN the experience is shared. Please, pass it ON. I'll be sharing it ;)

Design Stars

One really shouldn't allow us to spend most of the day watching HGtv. LOL. We've come up with a new design for the kitchen. I made a floorcloth!!! I'll take a picture when it's completely done. It took me two hours yesterday to do the design and most of the painting. Today, I ordered the acrylic clear coat to put on the top and then the fiber-lok rug backing so it stays STILL on the floor. I can't wait to show it off! I wonder how many people will realize it's art and not an actual rug. :D

I've just been itching to create lately. I think it has something to do with starting my own business. It's making me tap into the creative aspect of my brain again.

Now, to start selling some of my work!!! ;)

My Brain on Creativity...

So, today has been...
  • Read some books that make you never want to eat meat in this country again...I thought Updike's "The Jungle" turned me off....oh NO...check out the Ladies...gods...*shudders*
  • Have lunch with some WONDERFUL people...and no, no meat for lunch LOL - it was a wonderful Mediterranean lunch....and I was in heaven.
  • Hang out with Suzu and learn a few things about using my camera better...it's old...but I think I can still get some great digital pictures with it. I'm just not a pro-photographer, so I can't see dropping more $ into a new camera, lenses, and just well, everything that would go into making me more of a pro. LOL
  • Paint with pup...when it's dry...I'll post a pic.
  • Find some online resources to turn some of my better photography into art on canvas!
  • Establish that I'm going to paint some floorcloths for the living room and the kitchen...I think...and figured out what I wanted to do with the short hallway leading into our dining room.
Damn HGTv. :D I get way too many things to DO from that channel. And yes, I watch that and...Noggin for pup...and that's it. So be glad it isn't going to be something cartoony on the walls ;)

I'm going to become rich because nothing is going to stop me.

What are you going to let stop you?"
